Churches are changing the narrative of what it really means to be the Body of Christ and Zambuko Remweya Apostolic Church is no exception.
While all other churches they do is take, take and take the church donated foodstuffs worth hundreds of dollars and $233 in cash to Isheanesu Multi-Purpose Disability Centre in Glenview 3 last week during one of their services.
Isheanesu Multi-Purpose Disability Centre is a Glenview based day care centre which takes care of people living with disabilty.
Handing over the donation, the presiding Bishop Lovemore Kadyaridzire said the gesture was to show that the church cared and has a heart for people living with disability within its immediate community.
The church handed over a 50Kgs bag of fertilizer, 20kgs brown sugar, 20 x 2kgs rice, 20kgs maizeseed and $233 in cash.
Bishop Kadyaridzire reiterated that there was need for the church to reach out to the “physical needs” of the people apart from their spiritual needs.
“As Christians it is our mandate to deliver to the needy both spiritual and physical needs, we feel it is our obligation and duty to lead by example in the Christian community.
“No amount of donation will be enough, but we believe this is just the beginning to everything and we also believe we shall continue assisting them in any way we can,” said the man of cloth.
The donation came as a gift for the upcoming Christmas and New Year celebarations.
“This is to make them have something to celebrate for Christmas,” added Bishop Kadyaridze.
Isheanesu Multi-purpose Disability Centre administrator, Mrs Loyce Makaripe was grateful to Zambuko ReMweya Apostolic Church and advised other churches to do the same not only for them but others in need.
She said the donation will go a long way and it came at a time when the heavens had opened to rain.
“We are really grateful for what the church has done for us, the donations have already made a difference,” said Ms Makaripe.
She adds, “People around the community especially the church is of great importance as they understand our situation better”
“The Glen View community and other business people out there are now understanding our need and they are helping so much with provisions that we use on daily bases,”
Christian is more than claiming to be saved or going around the whole universe preaching the good news of God.
It is also about revealing the true nature of God in how we relate to others particularly the less privileged in the society.
Churches should be conduit of assistance to the less privileged in any society.
Zambuko ReMweya Apostolic Church is a place of worship with a difference.
This difference is that they care about helping out just as much as they care about preaching the word.
